Top 3 Reasons Blogs Fail

The New York Times reported in 2008 that about 95 percent of people who start blogs abandon them. An abandoned, or failed, blog is a blog that isn’t updated for 120 days or longer. That’s a huge amount of people who had at least an iota of ambition and, for one reason or another, lost it. At least some of these blogs were business-related.
Starting a blog seems incredibly simple, especially with the slew of free programs that feature a fill-in-the-blank approach. However, writing daily (or even weekly) can be frustrating, especially when you’re not getting comments or followers. You might find an SEO company that offers blog maintenance along with other services. Unfortunately, that’s not in the budget for many small businesses.

The Time Crunch Many blogs fail because people don’t think they have the time to update them regularly. This is an excuse, considering a short blog update only takes 15 to 30 minutes. Of course, this is a slice of time that can be spent surfing the web or taking a coffee break. Blogs aren’t considered real work, but of course they are.

It’s important to schedule time for blogging and stick to it. Some people are very ambitious in the beginning, but that drive quickly fades as you feel that no one is reading what you write. Getting blog readers takes constant outreach and relationship building with other bloggers. Utilize your existing customer base and any social media presence to boost your blog.

The Poor Skill Set Some lucky people are getting readers, but the interest wanes quickly. This can happen if you’re not a real blogger. It takes a certain kind of writer, usually a professional, to garner and foster blog readers. Not everyone has the skills to find high-quality images and produce consistently solid writing.

Ideally, you can hire a freelance writer to take care of this project. If that’s not possible, make sure you use the best writer at your disposal. Remember that this is an additional job on top of current demands, so re-distribute time or pay accordingly. Most importantly, if the person you use isn’t a professional writer, don’t expect their work to reflect otherwise.

Prioritization Issues Similar to time-crunches, blogs are often put on the back burner. They’re abandoned during busy seasons, or the writer thinks it’s fine to skip just one day (and then a few more). There are always priorities in small businesses, but blogs can’t come last. They need to be somewhere in the middle in order to survive.

I’ve worked with businesses who want me to save their blog. That’s a tough task when they only allot a handful of blogs to me and expect that to be the magic cure. Assess if you have the time, skill and drive to start a successful blog. Having no blog is better than a neglected one.

Time Sensitive Pages of SEO

Time sensitive knowledge is often troublesome to deal with, especially if you running a journal or web site that is primarily based around info or product that are solely looked for once a year. vacation blogs and sites area unit some of the primary things that come to mind for time sensitive info. Ranking number one for the search term Christmas decorations doesn’t do abundant good in August if you fall to page 2 in October, November, and early December. ticket vendors conjointly know the trials and tribulations all too well when they have a restricted range of time to sell tickets, and they’re competitive  with an outsized crowd on the SERPs.

When to modify Focus A consumer of Page One Power is predicated out of recent royal line and sells tickets to any or all styles of events, however he wished his landing pages for the Super Bowl and also the U.S. Open (tennis), and to rank extremely. rather than get a divorce our man power and offer weaker results for both, we focused on building relevant, keyword heavy links for The U.S. Open (which happens in late summer) after the Super Bowl finished. Once the U.S. Open got underneath means we shifted our focus to obtaining links on NFL connected sites pointing back to the Super Bowl landing page. Granted, this works well for U.S. as a result of the 2 events happen way aside from one another and that we have enough time to urge their rankings up. Not everybody has such luxury.

Don’t Wait Too Long affirmative, they could be lyrics found in almost every immature anxiety song from the late 90s, however seriously, don’t wait too long before ranking up the link building and SEO efforts. Some individuals suppose that waiting till some weeks area unit left before the event (when sales and searches area unit typically highest) is that the best time to strike as a result of you'll be able to jump pages with some quality links. However, this strategy solely works somewhat predictably with long tail keywords and uncompetitive niches. in an exceedingly competitive niche, the keywords area unit abundant harder to rank for and if you aren’t already close to the highest, your eleventh hour SEO efforts might easily be overshadowed by sites with a stronger SEO campaign. Google’s crawlers don’t scan over your web site a day either, so it will take longer than you're thinking that for a few of these nice backlinks to start out bumping you up the SERPs.

Keep acquisition throughout The Off-SeasonJust as a result of there aren't any NFL games from february to Sept doesn’t mean the players sit on the couch all day and relax. Athletes keep their bodies fit and in high condition so as to stay their edge and your web site should follow constant example. Don’t shut down a Valentine’s Day uniform resource locator just because it is March first. Keep the positioning up and active with ways in which for individuals to request notifications, place orders, or to post somewhat blurb every so often. Once that special time of year gets closer, turn up the warmth and bring the simmer to a boil. This helps you to stay a high ranking if you’ve earned  one, or offers you the choice to try to to some light-weight link building throughout the year to achieve an advantage.

SEO for time sensitive pages will be tough. You don’t want to waste your efforts on ranking for keywordsthat nobody will be looking for anyway; that’d be like attempting to sell wine to a vinery. however care needs to be taken so as to confirm that you just will and can rank extremely once you want to.

Panda Internet Marketing- Tips for Successful Post

Panda and Penguin are close friends. They are tools of Google that designed to re-organizing Google ranking system, reduce the rank of low-quality website. Last two days, we have a post on how Google Penguin penalize a website for overdoing in SEO. This guest post will give you some tips to sucessful in new era of Google.

The last two years have seen some major changes in the world of internet marketing. Google's Penguin and Panda updates have altered the SEO landscape considerably. Here are a few tips to help you succeed at post-Panda online marketing.

Prior to the Penguin and Panda updates, it was possible to rank a website using spun content, directory submissions and automated link-building techniques. Those days are long gone and now you need to have high-quality content and a natural link profile if you want your site to do well in the SERPs.

Marketing Through Quality ContentContent marketing is not a new concept, but it is enjoying a surge in popularity at the moment. Before Penguin and Panda, many webmasters avoided content marketing because it seemed like a lot of work and they knew that they could see good results just by hiring an SEO company to do some automated directory submissions and submit a few spun articles to the popular article farms for them. It didn't make sense to pay more for good content and high-quality links if you could get the same results by focusing on quantity instead.

Now that Google has improved its ranking algorithm, those low-quality links are useless and every goodSEO Company knows this. If you want your site to rank well today, you need to build a site full of useful and interesting content. Google appreciates unique content that is relevant to the topic of your website and will love your website even more if it is frequently updated. Not only will unique, fresh and interesting content get bonus points from Google, it will also be appreciated by your users. More important, good content will be linked to via social media sites and readers' blogs.

Organic Traffic And LinksBefore Google changed its algorithm, link-building strategies focused on acquiring links for the purpose of increasing the target site's Page Rank and improving the site's ranking for specific keywords. Google now picks up on sites that have unnatural-looking link profiles with a lot of links that have similar anchor texts.

Instead of focusing on links for the purpose of page rank, it is better to focus on creating content that people want to link to because they think it is worth sharing. The traffic that your website receives from such links will land on specific pages rather than the home page. In addition, some of those links will be from sites with a loyal readership. Those readers will click on your link and hopefully enjoy the content on your site and choose to come back regularly.

There are no short cuts when it comes to successful internet marketing. Yes, it is possible to buy traffic and see impressive numbers in your statistics, but that traffic will probably consist of bots, or visitors who are not actually interested in your site. If you want to get quality traffic and have people read your posts and buy the products you are selling, you need to work hard. Today, quality content and regular site updates are the secret to success.

8 Tips on Seo tactics

With the amount of people doing SEO, there are tactics that each one of them would use. This is how you build up the website to the level of your competitors. Later, you will use specialized or advanced SEO tactics in order to gain higher ground and beat out your competitor.

Link Building

This is the first part of common SEO tactics and it can be broken down into several techniques or methods. But the basic principle here is that you spread links going to your website throughout the internet. This is done because one of the factors that affect search engine rankings is the number of links leading to the site. Basically each link is a “vote”. The idea behind this from a search engine standpoint is that if a lot of websites link to a particular website, then that means the receiver has good content and is deserving of a higher spot in the rankings. Link Building is done in order to replicate this effect.

Directory Submission

This is the first and probably the most common link building method there is. Almost any website today uses this method and all SEO specialists are at least familiar with this method. It is the fastest and easiest way to gain links from all over the internet. So how does this go?

First off, there are websites on the internet designed to provide people a service similar to that of the Yellow Pages. The main difference is that instead of providing the address and phone number of a particular business, it provides the URL of a particular website. These sites are called Directories and they are huge compilations of various sites all over the internet.

What’s great about Directories is that they also categorize the sites listed in them. Although categorization can differ from one Directory to another, it’s still very helpful that they are categorized. And, another great thing here is that you can use them to gain links for your site.

Basically all you have to do is to look for a Directory (which isn’t very hard). Next, look for the button to submit a site to their directory. You are then instructed to fill up a form containing information such as website name, the URL address, a quick description, e-mail of the submitter for verification, etc. After you do this, click on submit and it will be posted after the owners of the directory approve it.

Accomplish this process a couple of times every day and you’re sure to gain good backlinks for your website.

Now there are good directories and bad directories to submit to. You can identify a good directory if it has a high page rank and if it does not use a “no follow” tag on the links. Bad directories on the other hand are the exact opposite. They have zero page rank, which could also indicate that they are blacklisted by Google, and they implement “no follow” tags.

Forum Posting

Another “old school” method of building up your backlinks is to make use of Forum Posting. It is a quick, easy and sometimes even fun way to get your links out and maybe even have someone directly click on them which is always a good thing. When it comes to Forum Posting however, the trick is moderation and substance.

To start things off, you need to find a forum in which you will post your links. Now there are several strategies that you can take here and it all depends on what you feel most comfortable with. But the basic idea is to find a forum that is at least remotely related to your website. Again, for example’s sake, the target website deals with selling motorcycle parts, then it would be a good idea to sign up with a forum of motorcycle riders.

Once you have filled up the form and are an official member, the tricky part starts. Each forum has their own rules and regulations especially with regards to posting links. One of the most common rules you will find is that they do not allow you to post links in your messages until you reach a certain number of posts or weeks as a member. Also, when you get approved to post links, do not go on and overdo it. Do not post your link in every thread of the forum. This is a sure way to get your account banned and your posts deleted thus all that effort going to waste. Do it moderately and in an acceptable manner.

For example, post a link in your message only when you are referencing to something. Again let’s go back to the motorcycle parts scenario. It would be ideal to reply to a message asking where to buy a particular part and suggest your website by posting the link.

Next, in forums, each member is allowed to create his or her own signature. This would become part of every message you post to a thread. Once you can place a link in your signature, do it then participate in several discussions. This is a great way to get a lot of links fast since all replies you make would automatically contain your link.

Article Submission

It is worth noting that when it comes to link building, it is very difficult to find a site owner willing to give you a link freely. Usually you give something back in return. In Directory Submissions, you provide content for them. In Forum Posting, they also get more content for their site. Another example of this is Article Submission.

The basic concept of Article Submission is that you give the Article Site content and they allow you to place a link in your article in return. Once it is approved and posted in their site, you get the link. It’s as simple as that. Of course, there are rules here too. And each Article Site has their own set of rules and regulations.

The first thing that you have to consider is the quality of the article. You can’t simply go around and submit a poorly written article to these Article Sites. If you do that, chances are you will get a low success rate and get one approved article for every twenty submissions that you do. Another thing you have to remember is NOT to copy another article word for word and submit it as your own. They have ways of checking for plagiarism. If you do this, it is a quick way to get your account deactivated. Worse, some of these Article Sites will block your actual IP address.

You should also refrain from articles that are too sensitive or controversial such as adult oriented articles and vulgarity. Keep it simple, keep it direct and informative. That is the best type of article to deliver.

In submitting an article, write one that is related to your product or service of course. Again back to the motorcycle parts scenario. If that is your website, then write an article about motorcycle parts. Look for an Article Directory which has a category that fits your article and submit it.

Now when it comes to the links, one Article Site can differ from another in their rules. Some sites allow you to place a link or two anywhere in the article. But most commonly, these sites will only allow you to place two links in your author biography box.

Link Exchange

Since the dawn of link building, this method has been done in order to get backlinks. As a matter of fact, this is the simplest way to get link building done. So how does it go?

Well, the name says it all. It is an exchange of links. You do this by messaging another website asking if he or she is willing to post a link in his or her site to yours and you will do the same. Of course, looking for a willing webmaster can be a pain. You have to surf through the internet for

hours looking for websites and messaging them. Ideally, the sites you do Link Exchange with should be relevant to your website. For the motorcycle parts scenario, do Link Exchange with sites selling motorcycles or organization sites for motorcycle riders.

If you go on and ask several SEO specialists about Link Exchange, you will find that some of them, especially the new ones, have never tried this method. This is because exchanging links does not really produce that much success anymore. For one, there are a lot of factors that can hinder the other site from agreeing. One such factor is the page rank. A high page rank website will certainly not agree to Link Exchange if your site is new. They will gain nothing from it.

Another problem with Link Exchange is that since it is one of the earliest methods in increasing backlinks, Google and other search engines have found a way to counter its effects. They do not give a lot of credit to a link if it goes to a site that simply links back to the first website. Each link counted by search engines is “graded” for quality. And if they see it as a Link Exchange between one site and another, they give the link a poor grade thus not giving much effect to the ranking of your site.

Blog Posting

One of the latest things to hit the internet is Blogging. This allows anyone to have their own little space on the internet and post their ideas, feelings, and basically anything they want. You don’t need to understand any coding to create and maintain a blog. All you need is your ideas and thoughts to post.

Now, you can choose to either keep the blog private or broadcast it all over the internet. If you choose the latter, people can come in, read your posts and even comment on it. That last part is what you can use to spread your links even more.

Blog Posting is basically done by visiting various blogs. Choose a post, read it a bit and put in a comment. Inside the comment, you can place a link to the target website. It’s that simple. Well, the idea is simple but the execution may not be that simple.

Unlike in Article Submission, Forum Posting and Directory Submission, there are no written guidelines when it comes to the approval of your comment and thus your link. You have no guide to ensure your link to be posted. This is because each blog is run differently depending on the owner. Some owners meticulously check each comment and only approve those with sense and substance. Others simply approve all comments. There are those who don’t approve comments at all. Then you have blog owners who will approve your comment but remove the link before publishing it.

Success rate in Blog Posting can be low but the quality of each link posted is good. This is why SEO specialists still do it.

Link Buying

If you have the money, you can speed up your Link Building process significantly by purchasing links. This is done in a similar fashion as advertising. There are websites that build up their content, do their SEO and get their site to become popular. Once that happens, they offer to place your link in their site; for a price of course.

As mentioned earlier, no one will willingly give you links for free on the internet. You have to give something in return. And since this is the business of making money, why not give money to make money? If you have the budget, then go for it. You can attain high quality links in no time at all.

There are a lot of sites and blogs that offer this service. You can look for them manually or you can use a service. There are services on the internet that lets the two sides meet. Here you can simply scan through their list of websites and blogs that offer Link Buying. You can check out their stats like page rank, traffic, and description. Once you have made your choice, simply contact the website and make your offer.

Of course, the better stats a website has, the more expensive their price will be. There’s no real strategy here. Just have a budget for it, and buy as much high quality links as you can without going over that budget.

Content

When it comes to Search Engine Optimization, the content will play a huge role in your rankings. As they say, “Content is King, Link Building is Queen”. Remember, all the hard work you do in building up your links will be for naught if your content is garbage. Search engines love websites that have good content and that only. If you can build good backlinks, you have to offer good content as well to achieve proper optimization and success.

Actually, it’s not just for optimization’s sake. SEO is about bringing in traffic, and how can you get people to go to your website if you have nothing significant to share? How can you convince people to stay on your website and buy something or click on an affiliate link if you have no articles, videos, or at least pictures in there? Simply put, you can’t do any of that without proper content.

That being said, Search Engine Optimization should start with creating and uploading content. This can include a lot of things but the most basic piece of content that you will use is articles.

When writing your articles, you need to keep in mind two things: first is your reader, next are the search engines. You need to make sure that both aspects are taken care off. Make it easy for your readers to understand and digest what you have to say. You can have different approaches to writing your articles; it’s up to you in which method you’ll be comfortable in. The important thing is that you express what needs to be expressed. You let the readers understand where you are coming from. And, in a sales point of view, you have to convince them that they need to buy or avail of what you are offering. It’s all about convincing your reader that what you say is true.

Next, you also have to treat search engines in the same manner and importance as your readers. This is because if you treat search engines right, they will place your content in a higher ranking. As mentioned earlier, they love good, unique content. That being said, how do you make them happy? First, make sure that your article is not plagiarized or simply copy and pasted onto your website. There are a lot of free online tools that lets you do that.

Next thing to remember is to make use of your keywords in your articles. Sprinkle them all over the place; but do not overdo it. Using your keywords too much can result in search engines not liking your site due to Keyword Stuffing. Use it a lot, but in a smart way.

Other things that can make search engines happy about your article are the use of tags like bold tags for your keywords, header tags and title tags. This can significantly improve the looks of your article in the eyes of search engines.

Of course, there’s more than one type of content that you can use for your website. The main one would be articles, but you can also use pictures or images to enhance the look and feel of your website. It can also add emphasis to whatever you are saying in your article. Images are a great way to catch your reader’s eye and get the message across faster.

Audio and video content are also good choices for certain websites. You can add audio messages or even background music for your website just to give it a better feel or ambiance. Plus, it lets your visitors remember the site. Videos on the other hand give you a faster and easier way to communicate with your visitors.

26 Tips to Get Your Blog Ready for First Time Visitors

Is your blog looking a bit stale? Would you like to freshen things up a bit?
Would you like to give your own blog a makeover, without hiring anyone? Just so, it is looking brand new and sparkling for the people visiting for the first time?
It’s not that hard if you know exactly what to look for, and to look at your blog from a newcomer’s point of view. You need a checklist and a block of uninterrupted time. Anywhere from half and hour to forty minutes is ideal to start things of.
Keep a paper/pencil handy if you want to take notes the traditional way, or open up a new text document and type away. (Don’t ignore this, because you will forget things so it is better to write those down as you go).
Let’s begin.
1. Look at your blog title. What is it telling your readers? If you are still on a free domain and thinking about moving to self hosted site, think long and hard about your blog name.
2. Getting your tagline just right is extremely important. It speaks volumes about your blog. It tells the first time visitors what is it about and what’s in it for them. Aim to make it descriptive rather then creative.
3. Showcase a clutter free design. Install a premium theme to make it look really professional. You are only looking at one time cost but it will really help your blog stand out. You can easily tweak things to make your design look exactly the way you want.
4. Add a brief author bio and image to your sidebar. This way anyone landing on it for the first time can see at a glance who writes it. Again emphasize on why you write this blog.
5. Show your most popular posts on the sidebar. This way your best content is always available for newcomers.
6. Place your email sign up form in a prominent position. A top bar works well. Another good position is to add it to your sidebar. Be careful that it is above the fold and the reader doesn’t have to scroll down to find it.
7. Make it super easy for your readers to contact you. Add a stand alone Contact Me tab on your main navigation or add this information on your About Me page. Don’t make readers jump hoops to get in touch with you either.
8. If you are accepting guest posts, it is a good idea to display your guideless in an easy to locate position. Think about adding a Write for Us or Guest Post Guidelines tab on main navigation. If you accept guest posts by invitation only, say so.
9. Add links to your Social Media profiles on your sidebar. Be consistent with your choice of icons.
10. Work on your About Me page until you are happy with the result. After your home page, this is the most frequently visited page of your blog. It needs to tell the visitor who you are, why you are writing this blog and why should they care. Meaning what makes you qualified to write on this topic. Don’t forget to add your opt-in form.
11. Add a subscription form after every post to remind your readers. Add other relevant plug-ins that will display similar posts.
12. Add social share buttons at the end of your posts so that people can share them easily. Don’t add too many to confuse them. Select a few networks that you are active on yourself so you can respond and keep an eye on what’s happening.
13. Create your ideal reader profiles. Go into detail and write a few personas. Make sure you appeal to at least one type of reader when writing your blog posts.
14. Headlines can make or break your post. They need to make somebody curious enough to click on it. Spell out the benefit and try to stay away from formulaic ones.
15. Hook your reader in with an irresistible intro. Perhaps make a startling revelation or share a shocking statistic? Ask a pressing question or say something totally unexpected.
16. Make your content screen friendly. Short paragraphs, subheadings, bulleted lists, images, screen shots and lots of white space. Every single element will go a long way in making it highly scannable.
17. Practice the principles of effective communication. Blogging is much more about writing. Remember to be clear, concise and connect with your audience.
18. Add a relevant call to action to your home page (subscription form) or at the end of your blog posts (Share, comment, link, buy something). Don’t overwhelm readers with unnecessary choices.
19. Create ‘linkbait’. Examples of these are round up type posts, interview posts, long lists – in short, posts that a lot of people would be interested in linking to. They are excellent ways to build authority and show off some social proof (tweets, likes, comments, links etc).
20. Install Reply Me type plugin. This sends an automatic email when you respond to a comment. The commentator doesn’t have to check any boxes to receive updates. More over, the person only receives the response and not all the comments in the thread. They never miss your response and it helps build engagement.
21. Show that you truly care about your community and always respond to their questions and any relevant comments.
22. Offer a freebie to get people to sign up for your newsletter or subscribe to your blog. Nothing entices anyone than a relevant freebie. This can take a form of a short report, an ebook or even a link to a video. Make sure you deliver high value content to get people to sign up.
23. Add a hire me page if you have any services on sale and list all the details for easy access. Don’t bury this information.
24. Place testimonials and raving customer feedback on your site to add credibility and authority.
25. Thank your advocates and your biggest supporters. People who always take time out to comment and share your stuff.
26. Have fun. Come across as a positive, passionate and fun loving blogger. Don’t paint a picture of gloom and doom.
There you have it. Go through the list, make notes and then take action. Keep coming back to it when you need to.
And share it with others so they can improve theirs too.

SEO Tips for Image Optimization On Any Website

Search engine optimization is the number one factor in getting your page ranked and noticed. This helps to ensure people view your website and that Google and other search engines rank it as a valuable piece of the internet. While most people know about the basics needed to optimize a page many are at a loss as to what to do about images. For a long time many web masters just left images as they were and didn’t factor them into optimization, but times are changing. Image tags, especially with the advent of image searches, can be useful for SEO purposes, if you know how to use your keywords effectively. Below you will find a few tips and tricks to properly optimizing your images.

File NamesThe file name does matter. Many people forget how important file names are when trying to optimize an image. The keyword or keywords should always appear in the file name. Rename any and all files to reflect what the picture is or what the website is associated with. For example, if you are looking to garner attention about the genetics of eye colors a picture of blue eyes should be named “blue_eyes_genetics.jpg”. This will help grab attention and allow your image to come up in image searches. When image file names are left as a simple string of numbers they will come up much lower in search engines, if at all.

Content Connection and IntegrationWhile it seems like a good idea to stuff websites full of images the images should always have some connection to the website content. If you are writing about dog breeds having pictures of sunrises and cars is not going to help you get visitors. Sure, it will gain you some quick viewers, but if you are looking to engage readers your images should be associated with your content. The image and the content must line up for search engine bots to truly crawl the site accurately. Be sure to keep in line with your content regarding the images you choose to host and you will find your site will quickly rise in the rankings. The goal is not to just gain viewers. It is to engage viewers and keep them coming back for more.

Alt TextAlt text is how search engine bots figure out what your image is about. You should make sure the alt text is a solid description of what the image is about. If you are using an image as a click through to another page you should make sure the alt text describes the page that the image links too. Strong, descriptive alt text helps search engine bots categorize your images correctly and efficiently. The better the descriptor the quicker your images will be appropriately categorized. Alt texts should contain the important information about the image. If it is a logo image the name of the company plus the word Logo will do the trick.

Overstuffing KeywordsThis tip might seem counterintuitive but it is important not to stuff the anchor text or Alt text with keywords. You want to describe the content and optimize it for your users and search engine bots. Overstuffing the file name, or anchor text with keywords will mess up the algorithm and distract search engine bots. The stuffing of keywords will also make for a difficult viewing experience for your readers. Essentially overexerting your keyword power will do the opposite of what search engine optimization is supposed to do.

Less is MoreThe final trick is another counterintuitive one; keep your images to a minimum unless you are a photography website. Sure, images look great, but the SEO gods only speak text. Alt text, file names and even Meta tags can help your images gain relevancy, but text always reigns supreme in the land of search engine optimization. Simply put your images should be an accoutrement of your site; it should not be the main star.

Armed with these tips and tricks most web master should have no problem optimizing their images in such a fashion that it will actually help their page rank. In the past images seemed unimportant to webmasters, but today images are a serious part of the equation that must be considered.

5 Tips To Drive Lots of Blog Readers

If you’ve ever created a blog before, then you know that the saying, “build it and they will come” just isn’t true. However, you can get more people interested in visiting your blog by following these five tips…
1. Offer good content.
By “good” content, I mean you should blog about topics that your audience wants to know about. To find out what they want, just follow these steps:
* Find out what types of information products they’re already buying – then write blog posts on the same topic.
* Use a keyword tool to find out what topics people in your niche are looking for.
* Drop by busy niche forums and other blogs to see which topics are generating the most views and discussion.
* Survey your readers to find out what they want.
2. Update frequently.
Sometimes people start a blog, post a flurry of articles and then abandon the blog for months at a time. If you allow dated posts, then your visitors aren’t likely to come back again if they notice that you don’t update regularly.
What you need to do is commit to posting to your blog at least once a week. If you don’t want to be chained to your blog like this, then create the content ahead of time and automatically “drip” it to your readers. Or, hire a ghostwriter to both create the content and post it.
Point is, you need to post often to keep your blog from looking like a deserted island.
3. Create regular features.
Here’s a great way to turn a one-time visitor into a repeat visitor. Specifically, by creating “regular features” and multi-part blog posts that your visitors can look forward to.
Example: Maybe you create a seven-part article about how to make money with pay per click marketing. And maybe you space it out so that you’re posting one or two articles per week. You can bet that your readers will return at least once a week just to finish reading the series.
Another way to get more visitors is by creating a regular feature, such as a “tip of the week” feature or even a “questions from our readers” feature.
4. Write about hot topics.
One way to get a surge of traffic and increase in your blog is by writing about hot or even controversial topics. You can include relevant keywords and “ping” the blog directories (like technorati.com) to make sure that those who are searching for the hot topic see your post.
Another way to leverage a hot topic is by joining in on the blogosphere conversation. Simply find a popular blog discussing a hot topic, and use a trackback to add your response.
5. Get someone influential to endorse your blog.
Finally, you can get others to visit your blog by first getting someone influential in your niche to endorse you (and your blog). You can do this indirectly, such as by offering to be a guest author on the other person’s blog. Or you can ask your joint venture partners to directly endorse you on their blogs and in their newsletters (and you’ll return the favor).
It’s free advertising. But it’s also extremely powerful, because you’re using social proof to increase your readership.
You just discovered five proven ways to get others to visit your blog – and to visit it again! Your next step is to take action.
Starting today, apply these tips… and then keep an eye on your traffic logs!
